Casings and used tyres are carefully examined by our specialists. Only then are they approved for re-use and re-treading. Remoulded tyres can be an attractive proposition for your customer because of the advantageous price. Remoulding involves applying a new tread as required on the existing casing.
Type of rubber, thickness and details of the tread - these can all be decided on the basis of your customer's specifications. Remoulding is done exclusively by renowned specialised companies. And we give the same guarantees on re-tread tyres as on new.
The difference between a Remould and a Retread
A retreaded tyre simply glues or bonds a tyre tread on an old tyre after the old tread has been removed. The retread will eventually separate and fall off the tyre creating a danger for the vehicle and other vehicles passing by.
Remoulded tyres use the same process as used in the new tyre manufacturing process.
Our tyres will not separate because the tread is not simply glued on as in retreads, but it is moulded to the proven casing at high temperatures and pressure, just as in new tyre manufacturing.
A remoulded tyre is much safer and has a longer life.
Our tyres are also made with high-grade European raw rubber with a shelf life under 90 days. Most people do not know that rubber older than 90 days changes its molecular compound.
Remoulded Tyres : Best Buy in Recycling
Remoulded tyres are about 50% of the cost of new, despite the reinforced sidewalls and above-industry-standard ply of both our passenger and truck tyres.
Can Remoulded Tyres be driven at highway speeds?
Yes. Remoulded tyres can be driven at the same legal speeds as comparable new tyres with no loss in safety or comfort. In fact our tyres are also road tested (most tyres are tested indoors only) for H-Rating.
How long will they last?
With proper maintenance and care, Remoulded tyres will provide the same amount of service as comparable new tyres. Remoulded tread life varies from the same as a comparable new tyre to 75% of a new tyre. The variables here, relative to a comparable new tyre are:
- Remoulded tyres often start with less tread depth
- Due to casing conditions, the Remoulded footprint may be smaller/narrower then the new tyre
- Trailer tyres are removed from service for reasons other then wear out over 80% of the time, especially with in-line haul service.
Are there any driving conditions where Remoulded Tyres should not be driven?
No. Remoulded tyres can be driven wherever comparable new tyres can be driven. The only restriction is on the steer axle of busses hauling passengers.
Do my driving habits affect the life of my tyres?
They certainly can. Here are some tips to increase the life of your tyres:
- Don't speed: excessive heat is generated when driving at high speeds. This heat increases the rate of tyre wear and reduces the tyre's durability
- Avoid fast turns on curves and around corners
- Avoid fast starts and panic stops
- Don't ride on the edge of the pavement or drive over curbs, chuck-holes, or other obstructions.
